According to the firm Troughton wishes to pursue another opportunity within the financial services industry and will leave the business before the end of the year.

The ATI senior management team will continue to run the business on a day to day basis and the allocation of fund management responsibilities will remain unchanged, with chief executive Katherine Garrett-Cox continuing to oversee the overall business to ensure a smooth transition until Troughton’s replacement is found.

Troughton joined Alliance Trust in February 2008 to help establish its asset management division.   From a standing start the division amassed £2bn in assets under management during Troughton’s tenure, and of, in excess of £1.6bn is managed on behalf of third parties.

Announcing the departure, Garrett-Cox thanked Troughton for his input and said ATI “remained committed” to its long-term growth plan and its decision to refocus its offering on global equities, fixed income and socially responsible investing.
