Alliance Bernstein has pledged to keep building out its Oeic platform as it announces the launch of a UK-domiciled version of its $4bn (£2.95bn) global sustainable equities strategy.

The ES Alliance Bernstein Sustainable Global Equity Oeic will be managed by Dan Roarty and invests in the themes of climate, health and empowerment, which it has derived from the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In a press release, Alliance Bernstein head of UK retail Lee Matthews (pictured) said: “The launch of the Sustainable Global Equity OEIC is very much in response to the demand we’ve seen from UK investors – not just for the Sicav version of the fund, but for the sustainable strategies in general.

“We are pleased to be able to give UK investors platform access to one of our most in-demand strategies, and we are confident that we will see significant interest in the fund.”

The Alliance Bernstein Oeic range now has six products with assets hitting $1bn in December.

The asset manager told Portfolio Adviser in 2018 it was ready to launch an Oeic platform if the UK’s Brexit negotiations with the European Union turned sour. In April 2019, it launched its first UK-domiciled fund, the ES Alliance Bernstein Europe ex UK Equity Oeic.

“We are enormously encouraged by the success of the Oeic platform since launch, which demonstrates AB’s relevance to asset allocators in the UK,” said Matthews.

“Reaching the $1bn AUM milestone in short order is a significant achievement, but it’s just the start of our ambitions, and we’ll continue to add offerings to the platform in line with our clients’ needs and objectives.”

ES Alliance Bernstein Sustainable Global Equity will be the second sustainable strategy in the Oeic range. The ES Alliance Bernstein Sustainable US Equity Oeic launched in March 2020 and already has over $400m assets under management.
