AJ Bell taps LGIM to grow distribution firepower

Firm also promotes two members of the investment team in light of ‘continued growth in assets’

AJ Bell has tapped Legal & General Investment Management for a head of strategic accounts and promoted two within its investments team.

Paul Pugh has been hired to grow distribution for AJ Bell’s investment solutions, including its managed portfolio service, multi-asset funds and retirement portfolio service.

Pugh, who has more than 20 years’ experience in financial services, was previously senior manager strategic alliances at LGIM. Before that, he was head of strategic partnerships at Premier Asset Management where he was responsible for the development of its fund and model portfolio distribution.

He has also worked as a regional sales manager in the north of the UK for Cazenove Capital.

AJ Bell also announced the promotion of two members of its investments team. Mark Gillan has become head of product and Tom McGoldrick is now a passive portfolio analyst.

In a press release, the firm said the appointments were made in light of continued growth in assets.

AJ Bell, chief investment officer Kevin Doran (pictured) said: “As head of strategic accounts, Paul will be responsible for taking our investment solutions into the wider market, with a particular focus on networks and large national practices.

“Building on our excellent three-year performance track-record and increasing interest from advisers from around the country, Paul’s appointment marks an exciting point for the business.”

Earlier this week, AJ Bell announced the hire of former Hargreaves Lansdown veteran Laith Khalaf  as a financial analyst within its communications team on a 10-month contract.
