Former Abrdn head of brand and Warhorse Partners founder Piers Currie has died.

He joined Aberdeen Asset Management in 1995, before being made group head of marketing in 2007, and head of brand in 2012.

Currie left the firm in 2017 to found consultancy Warhorse Partners, which offers marketing services to asset management companies.

Leanne Capital director Chou Chong described Currie as a “legend” in the industry.

Coller Capital head of marketing Andrew Kelly, who worked with Currie at Abrdn, said in a Linkedin post: “Piers did so much for the asset management marketing community, both in London and New York. His network was vast and you always knew everyone had a Piers story of their own. He’ll leave a big hole. He was just the right amount of crazy for me and I’ll miss him very much.”
