She will be based in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and will work for Aberdeen’s 13-strong EMD team under Brett Diment, head of the asset class at Aberdeen.
Prior to joining she worked at Standard & Poor’s ratings service, where she focused on Latin American companies.
Aberdeen currently has $7.7bn in AUM in emerging market debt, with $750m of that invested in corporate bonds.
Diment said of this latest hire: "Emerging market corporate bonds have come into their own as a stand-alone asset class. The addition of Debora strengthens further the team and illustrates Aberdeen’s ongoing commitment to undertaking on the ground research."
There has been a great deal of movement in the EMD space recently, with Mike Riddell from M&G calling it a "trendy" asset class.
