Viv Coghill passed away at his home on Tuesday following a short illness.
He founded City Asset Management in 1988, building on 20 years’ industry experience in the UK and overseas. Business development director Helen Angove described him as being responsible for the overall company management as well as being able to use his technical expertise across most aspects of wealth management.
“He particularly enjoyed building a company that really values the personal relationships it has with its clients and professional contacts and to this end, he will be succeeded by his son, Nicholas Coghill,” she added.
Nicholas joins his mother, Hilary Coghill, at the firm who is City Asset Management’s chief investment officer.
He was a managing director in Morgan Stanley’s equity division and co-head of the EMEA region for derivative sales. He helped build up the business in the UK as well as managing teams in Europe and the Middle East, mostly with wealth management and retail firms.
