This is his first week in the role as part of a 52-strong team of analysts and portfolio managers, and follows Rob Hall rejoining Russell Investments from Schroders early last month as a client portfolio manager.

Vickers is a multi-asset specialist and will take an active role in managing a range of asset classes that include including equities, fixed income and alternatives, investing through  passive and actively-managed funds, multi and single-style managed structures, index funds and ETFs.

His responsibilities at Sarasin included managing client assets as a partner and lead fund manager within the multi-asset team that included the £93m GlobalSar Dynamic Fund – currently 68% in equities and 20% in fixed income – and the Alpha Common Investment Fund.

A spokesperson confirmed that Russell’s multi-asset team is looking to make further senior hires.
