Titcomb left Sanlam in late 2012, at the same time as it agreed to merge with subsidiary Merchant Securities, and has since held non-executive roles at Harpenden Building Society and Shepherds Network.

In a 28-year career, he also held roles as group CEO at Ansbacher Banking Group and managing director positions at Bank of New York and Flemings/JP Morgan.

At the same time as Titcomb’s appointment, Brown Shipley has also announced a number of changes to its board. Chief financial officer Andrew Curran has been promoted to board director, while Jim Willens has rejoined as a non-executive director.

Chief operating officer Robert Kitchen and head of London front office Robert Smoker have stepped down from the board, while their management roles remain unchanged.

Elsewhere, recently-appointed chief risk officer Mike Hudson has taken on reporting responsibility for the firm’s compliance function.
