Malcolm Smith will lead a team of eight client portfolio managers and investor support specialists which comprise the client portfolio management team, managing €24.7m (£14.2m). He reports to Michael Barakos, CIO of Europe equities.  
 
Smith is responsible for leading client relationship development and overseeing the communication of investment strategy, performance and market outlook to existing and potential clients. 
Previously, he was at BlackRock in the roles of managing director and product strategist in the firm’s fundamental equity business.
 
He replaces Karsten Stroh, who was the interim team leader and is relocating to Frankfurt this month. James Glover, who was previously appointed in this role, moved to the investment trust department of the firm as client director.
