As previously reported by Portfolio Adviser, both Hasler and Johnston join from Brewin Dolphin.
Hasler will lead fixed income research at Square Mile, working with investment research analyst Marianne Weller. Meanwhile Johnston will focus on equities fund analysis.
At Brewin Dolphin, Hasler led the fixed income team since 2000, while Johnston joined in 2008 as fund analyst responsible for open and close-ended research of the UK, European, Asian and Japanese regions.
“The research and analysis that the team is undertaking is now being actively utilised for both our consultancy clients and the development of the new Fund Ratings section of the website, set to launch in the second half of 2014,” managing director Richard Romer Lee said.
Square Mile is the new research firm that was set up by former OBSR stalwarts Richard Romer-Lee and Nigel Whittingham. In addition to the latest appointments, the team includes Jason Broomer as head of investments, Marianne Weller as fixed income specialist, and Alex Farlow, responsible for research into risk-based funds as well as risk-based solutions.
