An associate of the Society of Investment Professionals and previously a director with the private client and charity team at Cornelian Asset Managers, Hunter will report to regional director David Macaulay.
At Cornelian Hunter he was responsible for client assets totalling over £120 million and prior to that he worked and trained with ABN Amro Asset Management in London.
Macaulay said the appointment was in line with the firm’s UK expansion plans which include increasing its team of investment managers.
Other new joiners to Rathbones in 2012 include Keith MacKenzie, Rowland Flower, Evangelos Assimakos, Caroline O’Callaghan, Tony Milner and James Neill who have joined Rathbones’ offices across the country.
Hunter said that he is looking forward to combining the discipline of investment research with the management of client portfolios and relationships.
“I believe my experience in developing a significant client base and in working together with financial advisers and other professionals in the management of private client portfolios will help me add value to an already impressive team,” he added.
