The firm, which last week had its discretionary fund management services rated with five stars by Defaqto, said the hires would bring valuable experience to its teams in London and Manchester as it looked to expand support to advisers and clients in the northwest and south of England.

Richard Wayne-Wynne and Mark Godwin both join the London investment teams, while Ben Roberts beefs up the investment team in Manchester.

Between them, the new recruits have more than 38 years’ experience in the investment industry and take the total number of investment managers at BMAM to 55.

Wayne-Wynne has the greatest pedigree of the three, with 18 years’ experience in managing investment portfolios on behalf of private clients and intermediaries.

Prior roles

He was one of the founding partners of Vestra Wealth and prior to that worked at UBS Wealth Management and Laing & Cruickshank.
Meanwhile, Godwin joins BMAM from City Asset Management where he was an investment manager responsible for private client portfolios. Before his stint there he did equity fund research and selection for the global private banking unit of Banco Comercial Portugues.

Finally, Roberts’ prior role was as private client manager at Brown Shipley Private Bank where he was also a member of the bank’s third party funds committee covering overseas equities.

Wayne-Wynne said of his new employer: "I have watched Brooks Macdonald rapidly become a leader in private client asset management. It has a first class reputation in the industry, built on solid foundations and an extremely strong degree of trust with both their clients and financial advisers."

Godwin also praised BMAM: "I chose to join Brooks Macdonald because of its excellent reputation and continued success within the wealth management industry."
