WH Ireland has tapped the global head of sales from a retail investing app to become its first head of private growth capital.

The WH Ireland private growth capital division raises money for private companies through various sources, including EIS/VCT funds and private equity, as well as its investor forum and pre-IPO funding. The team has been in place as part of the capital markets business since 2019 but today’s announcement marks it formally becoming its own division.

Fox (pictured) will lead the existing team in her newly-created role with a start date effective from 4 January.

Before WH Ireland, she had a brief stint at Dabbl Global, a UK-based fintech launched in 2014. She had joined in May 2021 having previously spent six years at investment bank Haitong International in various roles before becoming chief executive of the London office. She started her career at JP Morgan in 1996 and has worked in investing banking and securities positions in London, Hong Kong and Tokyo.

In a press release, Fox said: “In the third quarter alone, UK companies raised over £6.5bn in over 500 different transactions, and WH Ireland has a strong private capital institutional distribution capability alongside broad and increasing high net worth distribution to take advantage of this activity. This combination of market dynamics and capability give us the opportunity to build a leading private funding business.”

WH Ireland chief executive Phillip Wale said Fox’s experience would help grow the firm’s private funding business from its “promising start” and execute its “significant” private deal pipeline.

“She brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise building businesses, which will prove invaluable as we grow our private funding business from its promising start and execute our significant private deal pipeline. Her skills of developing distribution networks, and her entrepreneurial flair and determination, will play a key role in delivering our aspirations in this exciting market.”
