Simon Pinner is the latest hire to jump ship from Brooks Macdonald to join Jon Gumpel at Aubrey Capital.
Pinner joins Aubrey Capital as a sales director to strengthen its distribution capabilities across its European, global conviction and global emerging markets funds.
He joins from Brooks Macdonald where he was a discretionary sales director for specialist funds. He has also held roles at SEI, Scottish Widows Investment Partnership, Gartmore and BNP Paribas Securities Services in Paris and Frankfurt.
Aubrey has made a number of hires since Gumpel joined the firm last July after 28 years at Brooks Macdonald, the firm he founded. Former Cornelian Asset Management manager, David Neilson, joined Aubrey last month as an investment manager.
Brooks Macdonald acquired Cornelian in February 2020 in a deal worth £39m.
Gumpel said: “We are thrilled to welcome Simon to the Aubrey team, and I’m confident that his significant experience and knowledge of the industry will help us to promote and distribute our expanding funds range.”
Aubrey has three funds, including the $423m Global Emerging Markets Opportunities fund which returned 143.5% over five years, compared to the FO Equity – Emerging Markets average of 76.3%, according to Trustnet. It also has the €44m European Conviction fund and the £80m SVS Aubrey Global Conviction fund.
