Fidelity International has hired Artemis portfolio manager Rosanna Burcheri to co-manage two US equity funds.

Burcheri (pictured) will join Fidelity on 1 September to manage Fidelity America Special Situations, a UK-domiciled Oeic, and the Fidelity Funds – America Fund, a Luxembourg-domiciled Sicav.

She will become a co-portfolio manager on the two strategies after replacing portfolio manager Angel Agudo, who is leaving Fidelity after 16 years. She will work alongside existing manager Ashish Bhardwaj on the two funds.

Burcheri, who has 24 years’ investment experience, will be part of Fidelity’s wider US equity team comprising seven portfolio managers and 34 analysts.

At Artemis, Burcheri co-managed the Artemis Global Select fund and the MidWynd International Investment Trust, with Simon Edelsten and Alex Illingworth.

Burcheri’s role within the team will be shared equally by Edeslten and Illingworth following her departure.

In November, she told Portfolio Adviser how tourism was dropped from the Artemis Global Select fund’s thematic investment approach in summer 2019, in a move that would come to be seen as fortuitous in light of the havoc wreaked on the sector in 2020 due to the pandemic.

Burcheri is also an ambassador for the Diversity Project, a cross-company initiative championing a more inclusive culture within the savings and investment profession.

Fidelity International global chief investment officer, equites, Romain Boscher said: “In recent years, we have been evolving our investment platform by introducing more team-based portfolio management structures. I’m delighted to have someone of Rosanna’s calibre with an excellent investment track-record join our US equity team.

“Throughout her career she’s employed a compelling contrarian value approach and has a wealth of US market experience having managed global funds for over a decade. In Rosanna and Ashish, we have a highly experienced team who can leverage the breadth and depth of Fidelity’s global investment resources.”
