C Hoare & Co has hired a senior relationship manager to lead the bank’s growth in the south west of England.

Emily Corbett has joined the firm as part of a strategy to expand its presence and customer base in the UK’s regions, with further hires expected in 2021.

It follows the opening of a Cambridge office in 2019.

Corbett (pictured) will initially focus on business development in Bristol and Bath, reporting to banking team leader Peter Gale.

She has more than 25 years of banking and relationship management experience. Most recently, she was an individual banking manager at Handelsbanken in Bath, managing a portfolio of HNW individuals. Before this, she held various roles at Barclays Bank including premier banking manager and branch manager.

In a press release announcing the hire, C Hoare & Co said Bristol and Bath offered significant opportunity for growing its business given both cities are “growing entrepreneurial hubs with thriving professional communities”.

C Hoare & Co partner and director Venetia Hoare said: “The Hoare family has enjoyed close connections with the region dating back many centuries. Henry Hoare was instrumental in founding the Royal Mineral Water Hospital in Bath and of course Jane Austen was one of our more famous customers.

“Following our successful recent expansion into Cambridge, our first office outside of London in 350 years, we believe now is the right time to build out our UK footprint. The South West is a natural progression. Emily brings a wealth of expertise and established relationships in the region and I much look forward to working with her.”
