Quilter Cheviot plans financial adviser push with new boss for Manchester office

David Rothburn is stepping back from the role after 17 years

Quilter Cheviot is looking build its footprint with advisers in the North West as it appoints a new head of office in Manchester.

Simon Funge was formerly head of the regional advice firm Worldwide Financial Planning. Funge takes over from David Rothburn who, after 17 years in the role, is stepping back to focus full-time on his client base.

Quilter Cheviot chief executive Andrew McGlone (pictured) said the financial adviser community had been integral to the Manchester office’s success since it launched in 1993. “As we look to build further upon on our presence in the region, Simon’s experience means that he is ideally placed to strengthen our relationships within this community,” McGlone said.

Funge had previously been based in Devon with Worldwide Financial Planning, which he joined in 2018 from Birmingham-based Wesleyan, where he had been head of financial planning. “I am delighted to be back in the North West where for 25 years, I worked among the region’s business community,” he said. “I very much look forward to building upon the firm’s robust relationships in the adviser space, in an area I know well.”

He takes on a team of six investment managers, who work with a network of financial adviser firms in the city and across the region.

He added: “Quilter Cheviot is renowned among clients and advisers alike, for its personal service and the pandemic has only proven the importance of understanding an individual’s needs and concerns during what has been an unnerving period for investors.”

Rothburn was a founding member of the office when he joined 27 years ago. McGlone said: “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank David for leading and growing the team in recent years and for his ongoing commitment to Quilter Cheviot. I’m delighted that he will remain with the business and continue to look after his clients.”
