Aberdeen Standard Investments has nabbed ex-Schroders man Justin Simler to head up its multi-asset product strategy.
Simler (pictured) will “drive innovation” in ASI’s multi-asset business by creating products to “meet the present and future needs of clients”, a press release announcing his appointment said.
Based in London, he will report to head of product for public markets Emily Smart and work closely with the multi-asset and distribution teams.
Simler joins ASI from Tatton Investment Management where he spent the last two years as a freelance consultant, advising the group on its expansion in Europe, according to his Linkedin profile.
He had been with Schroders for a decade, joining the firm in 2005 and serving as its global head of product management for multi-asset during his last five years. From there he joined Investec in 2015, where he served as its multi-asset product lead for three years.
During his 25-year career he has also worked for BZW, the previous incarnation of Barclays investment banking arm, Merill Lynch and Barclays Wealth Management, in roles including head of research, CIO and fund manager.
Speaking on his appointment, Simler said he would draw on his experience working in multi-asset for the last 12 years to drive ASI’s business forward.
“It’s a great opportunity to join such a highly regarded multi-asset team,” he said.
