Allianz Global Investors has poached M&G’s UK sales boss Neil Brown following the exit of Adam Gent earlier this year.
Portfolio Adviser revealed Gent would be leaving Allianz GI in August to become Artemis’ head of intermediated business, following the departure of 18-year sales director Tony Van Gool. He had been at Allianz GI since 2017 after a decade at Legg Mason.
On Wednesday Allianz GI confirmed M&G Investments veteran Brown (pictured) would become head of UK distribution, a newly-created role. Gent had been head of retail and wholesale for Northern Europe.
Brown had been at M&G’s fund arm for the last 20 years, starting off as an equities investment writer and working his way up to head of UK retail and institutional sales.
Allianz GI said Brown would be in charge of leading and developing its wholesale, institutional, consultant relations and investment trust businesses in the UK.
His remit also includes leading Allianz GI’s retail funds business which has taken in £1.1bn worth of inflows in the first half of the year despite the Covid crisis.
Commenting on Brown’s appointment, Allianz GI head of EMEA Barbara Rupf-Bee said: “I am confident that Neil’s experience in distribution management, UK sales across all segments and his strong knowledge of the changing regulatory landscape, will help further strengthen our position in the UK across wholesale and institutional markets.”
