The former Lloyds Commercial Banking head of market strategy will manage the collaboration of the emerging market debt and developed market rates teams alongside directing the overall fixed income operations of the asset management company.

Diebel’s role has been created to ensure smoother operations of Aviva Investor’s multi-strategy funds that were launched earlier this year.

He is based in London and will report to Daniel James, Aviva’s global head of rates and multi-strategy fixed income.

James said: “Charlie brings an extensive amount of experience to Aviva Investors with a proven track record of success within fixed income investing.

“He will play a pivotal role harnessing the skills and experience of our global fixed income teams, coordinating views across the business and importantly into our multi-strategy team as we continue to focus on outcome-oriented solutions.”

Aviva Investors’ fixed income team managed £152bn in assets as of 30 June.

Diebel’s appointment comes soon after Aviva’s recruitment of former Scottish Widows Investment Partnership head of US high yield Kevin Mathews, who joined in August as a senior portfolio manager.
