Whitechurch Securities has promoted investment manager and head of SRI Amanda Tovey to head of investment as it seeks to grow its ethical investment offering.
Tovey told Portfolio Adviser on Wednesday her role had been expanded as the firm announced two appointments to the investment team. She will continue to lead on SRI and ethical investing.
Simon Jaffe joined as a senior investment manager on Monday while Jakob Filer joined on Wednesday as an assistant investment manager.
Jaffe previously worked at OLIM where he managed a range of portfolios including high net worth and charity mandates, as well as UK equity funds. Filer joins from Seven Investment Management where he was an assistant relationship manager.
Whitechurch focus on ethical
Tovey (pictured) said the firm will also add a senior investment analyst and another investment manager in the coming weeks, taking the investment team to six.
She said: “Our key message is our process isn’t changing. I’ve worked here for seven years so we’re going to carry on as we were, but obviously, as I’ve been heading up SRI and ethical for the past few years, that is going to be a key area of growth for us moving forward.
“I will stay as the key ethical specialist, but I’m really excited about the new team. They’re all very keen on the area. ESG is coming to the forefront and moving forward, we see this as moving more mainstream.”
Portfolio Adviser revealed in July that Whitechurch had made its range of ethical portfolios available on two platforms following demand from advisers.
Moyes exits for Wealth Club
Whitechurch also announced head of research, Jonathan Moyes, is leaving at the end of October after eight years.
Moyes will become head of investment research at Wealth Club, the Bristol-based investment platform for HNW individuals that specialises in tax efficient investments such as VCTs, EIS and IHT funds.
His departure from Whitechurch follows that of Gavin Haynes, who left his role as managing director in January, and former head of research Ben Willis, who left in April 2018.
Whitechurch chairman Kean Seager said: “While the investment team has experienced some changes over the past six months we are very excited about the expertise and experience the new members bring with them.”
At Wealth Club Moyes will be responsible for running the investment team and sit on the investment committee.
Before joining Whitechurch, Moyes was a trainee investment manager at Brewin Dolphin.
Wealth Club founder and chief executive Alex Davies said the appointment “marks a big step forward” for the company.
“He’s a highly regarded individual with strong performance history, and I hope he will bring the vigorous standards that he currently displays to the world of alternative investments.”
