Stilwell, who stepped down as chief executive at Liberum in 2015, will be a non-executive director on the company’s board, replacing Peter Moon who will leave at the end of this year.

Moon will remain within the Gresham House group but become chairman of the investment committee for the British Strategic Investment Fund, the company’s patient capital fund for UK housing and infrastructure assets.

Anthony Townsend, chairman of Gresham House, thanked Moon for his “valuable service” and added: “I am pleased to welcome Simon to the Gresham House Board. He brings a wealth of knowledge from his two decades in capital markets.

“His experience of working with companies to grow and forge their reputations in the City will be invaluable to Gresham House. Simon is the ideal candidate to carry on the good work of Peter Moon and help support the momentum and shareholder value aspirations of the company.”

Prior to founding Liberum in 2007, Stilwell was head of sales for small companies at Collins Stewarts and a director at Beeson Gregory Limited.

The 49-year-old currently holds a role as CEO of an Aim-listed digital media business, Vitesse Media.
