Shah will remain investment director of the firm, while Morilla-Giner moves up from head of equities, commodities and alternative investments, a role he has held since joining L&C in 2008.

In his new role Morilla-Giner will continue to look after L&C’s suite of equities and commodities funds, but in addition he will be responsible for shaping the firm’s macro-economic views and for providing the framework for asset allocation decisions.

The core London & Capital Star Equity Portfolio, which was launched in 2009 and is managed by Morilla-Giner, returned 13.09% and 17.29% in 2010 and 2011 respectively, according to the company, testament to Morilla-Giner’s track record.

Morilla-Giner, said: "This is a very exciting time for London & Capital. Over the last few years Ashok and I have worked closely together to bring the capital preservation philosophy – London & Capital’s very DNA – to the heart of the investment process.

“We have continued to invest in our highly sophisticated risk management capabilities, which we believe truly differentiates us in terms of our ability to manage the downside and means we can deliver when it matters most."

Prior to L&C, Morilla-Giner worked at JPMorgan Asset Management, Omega Capital and Pragma Wealth Management.
