Charles St-Arnaud, formerly a strategist and economist at Nomura, will be the investment manager’s first senior investment strategist based in London, tasked with a specific focus on investor engagement on the continent.

He will report to Salman Ahmed, chief investment strategist, to help develop the firm’s strategy.

Ahmed said: “Investors globally are grappling with the challenges created by unprecedented low yields and the intervention of central banks.

“Charles brings a valuable combination of skills to Lombard Odier IM and with the appointment of someone of his calibre we are able to continue delivering rigorous and prudent investment analysis within a new paradigm of investing.”

St-Arnaud spent seven years at Nomura, based in London and New York. Prior to this he was a senior economist with the Department of Finance Canada and held roles at Morgan Stanley and the Bank of Canada. He holds an MSc in economics from L’Université du Québec à Montréal.
