Reporting to head of research Elizabeth Savage, Tumkar will be responsible for developing and promoting Rathbones’ equity investment philosophy and process.
He joins from Investec Wealth & Investment where he was a senior equity analyst, primarily responsible for covering large caps across the UK, Europe and the US.
Tumkar brings with him 20 years of experience in research and fund management, having previously worked for Morgan Grenfell (later Deutsche Asset Management) and Alliance Bernstein.
Savage said: “With over £10bn of assets invested in both UK and international equities, Sanjiv’s extensive experience in stock analysis and selection will prove invaluable, not only now but in the years ahead as our research capability expands.”
Chief investment officer Julian Chillingworth added: “Sanjiv and the research team will continue to collaborate closely with investment managers in developing our unique, non-prescriptive process.”
