Having been at Invesco Perpetual since 2006, in October 2013 Mason took over management of the firm’s Emerging European, Emerging Europe Equity and Eastern Europe and Russian Equity funds.
The Latin American Fund has underperformed over the past three years, losing 3.4% versus a benchmark return from MSCI EM Latin America of 9.45%, according to FE Analytics.
Over one year the fund is up 33.6% versus 43.6% from the index. In his latest commentary, Newman, head of emerging market equities, said he was finding the utilities sector particularly interesting due to an improving regulatory environment and increase private sector investment in the region.
