Ulrich is set to arrive at the firm in August to take up a fund manager berth, joining John Wood, Rachel Reutter and Todd King at the helm of the JOHCM UK Opportunities Fund.
The announcement comes just over a month after Ulrich’s departure from F&C Asset Management following a decade-long association with the company, during which he managed the firm’s UK mid-cap, UK alpha, UK equity and UK equity income vehicles.
It is this experience that JOHCM cited as behind the decision to hire Ulrich, as lead manager on the UK Opportunities Fund, John Wood, explained.
“This is a significant hire that enhances the team’s capabilities,” he said. “Ulrich is a multiple award-winning fund manager with an impressive performance record generated following a similar philosophy and approach to our own”.
Prior to leaving F&C, Ulrich had delivered total returns of 122.5% over the last five years, beating his peer group by 45.6%.
