The Mixed Investment 40-85% Shares category attracted over £303m during the month, close to double the net retail sales it brought in during January 2016.

Meanwhile, the Targeted Absolute Return sector slid to the bottom of the IA’s top five best-sellers, following four months in the number one spot.

Funds in the absolute return peer group only managed to rake in £129m in February, compared with £297m last January.

This sea change comes at a time when investors are pouring more of their money into retail funds.

Net retail flows for the month totalled £2.2bn, the seventh consecutive month of net retail flows, as well as a noticeable uptick from last February’s paltry flows of £210m.
