Julian Ide took over the role effective from yesterday (4 October), joining from BBVA Asset Management, a banking and asset management business centred on Spain, Portugal, Mexico and Latin America, where he was head of institutional business.
In his new role, he will oversee OMAM UK’s investment teams, product offerings and retail and institutional distribution.
Reporting to Peter Bain, chief executive officer of Old Mutual Asset Management, Ide will also take on the responsibilities of head of global distribution for Old Mutual Asset Management with a particular emphasis on distribution in Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Prior to joining BBVA Asset Management he held senior roles at Merrill Lynch Mercury, ABN AMRO Asset Management and Credit Suisse Asset Management.
As well as the announcement of Ide’s appointment, OMAM has also confirmed the sale of its US retail mutual fund business, subject to the usual legal agreements, to Touchstone Advisors, pushing Touchstone’s assets under management to close to $10bn. Under the terms of the agreement, 17 Old Mutual funds will be reorganised into Touchstone Funds with OMAM’s affiliated investment managers continuing as sub-advisers to a significant majority of those funds.
