Newton Higher Income vs Saracen Growth and Income

At £1.9bn the Newton fund is vastly larger than the £41m Saracen fund but both funds have as their benchmark the FTSE All Share and an objective of growing both income and capital over the long term.

However, while the Saracen fund selects equities from both overseas markets and the UK, the Newton fund is solely focused on the UK.

Graham Campbell has been managing the Saracen fund since inception in June 2011 and is a major shareholder in the firm, having joined from Edinburgh Partners, but was joined by David Weir as co-manager in May 2014. The Newton fund, on the other hand, has been running since 1987, but has only been managed by Christopher Metcalfe, March this year.

Both funds have a pretty good track record, but which one will come up trumps?
