Mason has joined the alternatives house as a senior managing director but will also take on lead manager responsibilities, working on the Man GLG multi-strategy portfolios.
Mason comes on board from the Harvard Management Company where he served as chief risk officer.
Previously, he was chief executive officer at BlueCrest – known for its systematic trading funds – and had spells at Bank of America and JP Morgan.
David Kingsley, also a Man GLG multi-strategy portfolios manager, will report to Mason following the move. He will continue to have input on asset allocation and strategy and maintain his day-to-day trading and portfolio risk responsibilities.
