Canada deputy finance minister to join BlackRock

Jean Boivin, Canadas deputy finance minister, is to join BlackRock next month as deputy chief investment strategist.

In his new role, he will head up the BlackRock Investment Institute (BII) based in London as of 15 September. He will engage in a leadership role and be responsible for identifying and delivering investment insights to the firm’s investment professionals and clients globally. 
 
The institute is a global platform the produces information for the firm’s portfolio managers, aggregating the firm’s services and products across asset classes, client groups and regions. 
 
Prior to joining, Boivin held the role of associate deputy financial minister in the Ministry of Finance in Canada for the past two years. Earlier, he was deputy governor of the Bank of Canada.
