7IM has hired Sam Christopher, former Fidelity International head of proposition, for its new head of platform role.

The company has expanded its platform business since the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan Board bought a majority stake in the company in January.

Christopher will join 7IM in September under managing director for platform and intermediary partnerships Russell Lancaster. Before her three years at Fidelity International, Christopher was head of retail solutions at M&G Prudential and worked for Cofunds, an investment platform sold from L&G to Aegon in 2016.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Sam whose wealth of experience, talent, and impressive track record position her perfectly to lead our superb team on the next phase of our growth story,” Lancaster said.

“7IM has a history of outstanding service and putting advisers and clients first. To keep doing this, we not only need to continue to ‘stand in the shoes’ of our clients, but also continue to invest in our people as well as our proposition. Sam will play an essential part in this, and her appointment is vital to our strategy to continuously enhance and evolve our platform and the overall experience it delivers.”

7IM said the hire of Christopher follows “a series of hires” to its platform team, and it continues to recruit for the area.

Christopher added: “I’m delighted to be joining 7IM at an exciting time as the platform grows from strength to strength. I have admired the business for many years, for its innovative, proprietary technology and its longstanding and respected approach for delivering unbeatable service and solutions for clients. I am very much looking forward to working with such a talented team.”
