Ousting Property – the leading sector in April – Cofunds research showed that UK equity income topped the list of IMA best-selling sectors.
Likewise, the top-selling fund in terms of gross sales on the platform was CF Woodford Equity Income, trailed by Schroder QEP Global Core and Henderson UK Property, the latter of which was the best-selling direct property fund.
Property also featured in the top five sectors, taking second behind UK Equity Income, and followed by Targeted Absolute Return, Mixed Investment 40-85% Shares and Mixed Investment 20-60% Shares.
Equity income as a whole was represented in five of the top 10 funds for the month, including the Artemis Global Income, Premier Multi-Asset Distribution, Threadneedle UK Equity Income and Premier Multi-Asset Monthly Income funds.
Britt Holland-Ellice, Cofunds head of fund group relations, said: “Given current market volatility, it is no surprise to see the prominence of funds that aim to deliver regular, stable returns, predominantly from the lower risk and flexible, multi asset style sectors.
“What’s more, given the profile of the typical UK investor and their broad desire for a stable income and capital growth, one would expect to see the popularity of home market equities, income generating funds and property.”
