Carver will be based in SWIP’s Edinburgh office and will report to Graeme Caughey, global head of rates, from Friday 7 October.

He will co-manage SWIP’s absolute return bond funds with Juan Valenzuela and the pair will be reponsible for driving the strategy, performance and growth of the group’s fixed income absolute return products.

Carver was previously at Aberdeen Asset Management after it took over his original employer Deutsche Asset Management.

Latterly he was portfolio manager within the emerging market debt team, but he has 10 years of investment experience across a number of markets.

Caughey, said: "James brings with him over 10 years’ experience in investment management and has an impressive pedigree in research, portfolio construction, trading and risk management across a variety of asset classes."

This latest hire follows the recent appointment of Sarah Wall as senior asset backed security investment analyst at SWIP’s fixed income team in August.
