Schroders names investment trusts head

Schroders has appointed John Spedding as head of investment trusts within its UK Intermediary business.

He will be responsible for the overall strategy of the investment trust business, the oversight of its relationships with shareholders, clients and other key stakeholders, and the development of new opportunities.

Spedding has over 26 years’ relevant experience and has worked in several roles across this area at Schroders over the last 20 years, including company secretary and client director. Most recently he held the role of head of asset management secretariat.

He will take up his new position during Q3 and will report to managing director, UK intermediary, Robin Stoakley. Spedding will work alongside client director Jan Kingzett and investment trust business development manager Stephanie Carbonneil.

Stoakley said:  “We currently manage £2.73bn across the nine investment trusts in our investment trust business. John will increase our profile in this industry and will provide support for investment trusts to the UK intermediary business development team and to other parts of Schroders’ business. John brings a wealth of expertise to this role and we look forward to him joining the team.”
