Muzinich & Co has launched an Article 8 fixed income fund named the Muzinich Global Market Duration Investment Grade fund.

The fund will be managed by co-head of public markets Tatjana Greil-Castro, who has been with Muzinich since 2007, and Ian Horn, who has been with the company since 2013. Portfolio managers Horn and Anthony DeMeo will also work on the fund, focusing on the US and Europe, while Corentin Tarlier will manage analytics for the portfolio.

“Over the last 20 years, credit quality in the investment grade market has deteriorated. The BBB segment continues to grow, meaning credit analysis is only becoming more important,” Greil-Castro said.

“We are well positioned to take advantage of this changing market dynamic, utilising active credit selection as the primary driver of return.”

Muzinich also owns an Investment Grade: Crossover Short Duration fund and an Investment Grade: Global Short Duration fund, launched in 2003 and 2019 respectively. According to FE Fundinfo, the Global Short Duration fund is the top-ranked strategy in its sector, returning 4.1% over three years while the sector averaged -5.1%.

Justin Muzinich, CEO, said: “Our investors know and trust us for our credit expertise. This full market duration strategy acts as a complement to our short duration investment grade offering, allowing investors to select a strategy that best suits their duration appetite.”
