Yesterday it was announced that Phillips was one of a number of senior investment managers leaving Standard Life Investments, with three others – David Millar, Richard Batty and David Jubb – joining Invesco Perpetual to set up a brand new multi-asset business.

Phillips, investment director, global equities, left soon after the announcement was made that Wesley McCoy is to rejoin the company as an investment director in the global equity team on 1 October.

Steve Weeple will take on responsibility for Phillips’ global equity portfolios.

Phillips will not take up his new role until early next year when he will report to Mark Zinkula, LGIM’s chief executive officer.

Before Standard Life Investments he was executive director, fund management, at UBS Asset Management.
