Fleming’s position as CIO will go to Stephen Jones, currently co-head of fixed income, subject to regulatory approval. While it has not been confirmed, it is expected that Jones’ other co-head, David Roberts, will take on the role as head of fixed income himself.

Jones joined Kames Capital in 2002 from Britannic Asset Management where he worked primarily on sterling bonds as well as euro and dollar-denominated bonds. Prior to Britannic AM, Jones ran the new issue underwriting and syndicate desk at Greenwich NatWest.

His new role will cover all asset classes.

While the recruitment process for his replacement as CEO gets under way, Sarah Russell, chief executive of Aegon Asset Management – of which Kames Capital is a wholly-owned subsidiary – will assume the role, again subject to regulatory approval.

Fleming’s replacement will take on a role concentrating on strategy and governance as well as fighting Kames Capital’s corner as part of Aegon Asset Management.
