The firm’s UK Smaller Companies Fund will re-open to investors following the 4 May bank holiday weekend across a range of platforms.

Fidelity cited improved resources as behind the decision to green light the fund, which has been closed to investment since April 2013, including the appointment of co-manager Jonathan Winton that year alongside a small-cap analyst.

“The fund is one of our best performing funds and following a period of strong asset growth in 2013 we felt the time was right to take a pause for breath,” said Ben Waterhouse, Fidelity’s head of sales.

“We have bolstered the resources on this fund, the managers have now been working together for two years and performance remains strong. We are confident we can now re-open the fund and will closely monitor capacity.”

Managed by Winton and Alex Wright, in the past five years the fund has returned 173.9% against the IA UK Smaller Companies sector average of 96.1%.
