HSBC Global Asset Management has raided Aberdeen Asset Management and Barings as it builds out its fixed income team.
Oliver Boulind (pictured) will be responsible for developing asset allocation strategies for global fixed income funds and managing global bond and global total return portfolios.
Boulind joins from Aberdeen Asset Management where he most recently was responsible for asset allocation on the global aggregate and total return bond portfolios. He was also responsible for managing benchmark-driven global credit strategies.
He previously worked at Alliance Bernstein, Invesco and JP Morgan in credit analysis and portfolio management roles.
Richard Balfour joins from Barings, where he was an investment manager on the multi-sector fixed income team. At HSBC GAM, Balfour will manage global and UK fixed income portfolios. Previously, he was a portfolio manager at Credit Suisse Asset Management, initially managing money market and short duration bond funds, before taking on responsibility for the firm’s UK gilt portfolios.
Both men will report to Ernst Osiander, head of global bonds. “Their hire will help us further strengthen our fixed income offering and help us continue to build our global capabilities in line with client demand for long-term investment products,” Osiander said.
