Midgley will report to group CEO Jonathan Polin, and will be responsible for providing business and operational support for the management of the financial planning business and its national development.
He joins the firm from National Australia Group, where he was regional director and was responsible for leading the independent financial advice and wealth management businesses across the UK. He was also heavily involved in building the group’s RDR proposition.
The firm hired business director of asset management David Palmerin January, while Gaius Jones joined the firm from Towry as chief executive of financial planning in March, ahead of the departure of Chris Williams later in the year.
The firm has undergone a series of restructures in the past 12 months, which resulted in a drop in revenue for the 2012/2013.
Speaking at the time of the announcement, Jonathan Polin said: “Our focus in 2013/14 will be on delivering growth for the company, repairing the revenue line following some agreed departures of assets and managers last year, and growing new revenue lines organically.”
