The fund’s investment team will aim to keep it uncorrelated from equity and fixed income markets amid fears volatility is set to rock markets.
Portfolio manager Fred Ingham will focus on global macro, equity market neutral, short term trading and trend following strategies that offer returns distinct from traditional asset classes Neuberger Berman said.
The fund raised $71m in capital from investors in the UK, Switzerland and Scandinavia before its launch.
The launch reflects Ingham’s belief that financial markets will face more difficult conditions going forward with more volatility in equity, fixed income and currencies.
“This volatility could present challenges for strategies with persistent market beta, while it offers opportunities for less correlated strategies that rely on different ways of making money,” he said.
