Barney Hawkins, previously investment director at UBS Wealth Management in Newcastle, will join the firm at the end of the year in an investment management position, Brewin Dolphin confirmed.
Meanwhile, Ian Cooper has joined from his position as research analyst at Quilter to bolster the closed-end research capability, reporting into John Newlands – head of the closed-end research team.
Hawkins, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry will report directly to Charles May, Brewin’s divisional director in Newcastle.
Bewin’s regional offices have undergone mixed treatment in recent months, with five people laid off in its Aberdeen office in January, even as four senior hires were announced in the firm’s London premises.
A new office in Bristol was opened at the start of this year, while its Glasgow and Leeds teams have also seen additions.
The Newcastle division of the company has over 60 qualified advisers, according to the firm’s website.
