Lombard Odier Investment Managers (LOIM) has launched a new investment platform to deploy capital into projects focused on the transformation of economic systems such as energy, land, oceans and materials.

Launched in partnership with system change business Systemiq, it will develop a range of investment strategies investing in public and private market opportunities, with a pillar dedicated to a nature-positive economy.

Called HolistiQ Investment Partners, a team of 100 from LOIM and Systemiq will carry out research and forecasting of the economic transition and the impact this will have across sectors and geographies to identify investment opportunities for clients.

Hubert Keller (pictured), senior managing partner at Lombard Odier, said: “HolistiQ marks an important milestone in the history of both companies and signals the strength of our shared ambition of creating innovative solutions to drive progress in the global environmental transition. We look forward to deepening our existing relationship with Systemiq through this partnership.”

In 2021, LOIM acquired a stake in Systemiq after being a client for two years. At the time the groups said this would allow greater collaboration and synergy in “pursuit of the companies’ shared goal of understanding, advancing and investing in the global sustainability transition”.

Commenting on the launch of HolistiQ, Jeremy Oppenheim, founding/senior partner of Systemiq, said: “To build a net positive global economy, $5-6trn of investment capital needs to be deployed across the world every year; most of this will be private capital. Systemiq has worked with Lombard Odier for several years… combining research capabilities from across the two houses, [and] we will develop distinctive investment strategies with clear convictions based on both scientific and economic insights.”
