The former head of emerging market equities at Janus Henderson has resurfaced from gardening leave with the launch of a boutique investment company, Skerryvore Asset Management.

Glen Finegan (pictured), who left Janus Henderson in April taking his team of four with him, has chosen to partner with multi-boutique investment firm Bennbridge for the launch.

Skerryvore, named after Scotland’s tallest lighthouse, will be based in Bennbridge’s Edinburgh office and aim to “generate long-term returns by investing in emerging market equities with an unwavering focus on quality”.

Bennbridge is part of the BFM Group which operates as Bennelong Funds Management in Australia. BFM Group has offices in London and New York.

Finegan said: “I chose Bennbridge for its proven success in partnering with quality asset managers, as well as a clear alignment of interests. I am committed to continuing to invest according to my established philosophy and process and am pleased this fits so well with the Bennbridge business.”

Prior to his role at Janus Henderson, Finegan spent more than a decade as an emerging market portfolio manager at First State Investments.

At Janus Henderson he was responsible for the £135m Janus Henderson Emerging Markets Opportunities fund, as well as several others domiciled in the US and Ireland.

Bennelong chief executive Craig Bingham said: “Glen is a manager with an outstanding reputation built over many years, with an enviable track record. His investment philosophy is in line with Bennbridge and Bennelong and we look forward to working with him over the coming months to build Skerryvore’s business.”

The BFM Group partners with 12 active management boutiques across the globe investing across Australian, UK, Asian and global equities, listed global infrastructure and real estate, as well as global emerging markets.
