Having assumed the newly-created role on 8 January, Verleyen will also act as deputy head of portfolio management solutions while retaining his responsibilities as group CIO of SGPB Hambros.

An SGPB spokesperson said that while Verleyen will oversee progression towards company objectives throughout 2015, there will not any significant change to its investment policy.

Verleyen will continue to be based in the UK, and reports to Oliver Gerard, the Luxembourg-based global head of portfolio management solutions, and Paul Wiltshire, head of wealth management solutions.

Having joined Societe Generale Bank & Trust Luxembourg as head of discretionary management in 2005, Verleyen was appointed as SGPB Hambros group CIO six years later.
