Banyard will work as an investment director at SDL having stepped down from Schroders in March after 17 years.

Latterly co-head of the Pan-European mid and small cap teams, she ran approximately £1bn for Schroders across several UK small, mid and all-cap mandates.

SDL founder Keith Ashworth-Lord said: “Rosemary and I both discovered that we shared a passion for fundamental business analysis, long-term thinking and business perspective investing.

“I believe that as likeminded individuals we can add new business and new products that will be able to attract further asset management opportunities and drive stakeholder returns over the medium to long-term. It is a very exciting time and we all look forward to the future with confidence.”

Often associated with veteran investors Warren Buffett and Benjamin Graham, business perspective investing forms one of Ashworth-Lord’s guiding principles.

Banyard added: “After a short break from the City I have chosen to work with the SDL team.  They are very professional in both approach and ethics. Keith and I also have very similar principles when it comes to investment.  Both of us have had the privilege to build very successful investment portfolios.  I am eager to combine our financial and analytical skills so we can innovate and introduce, subject to the appropriate FCA approvals, new investment products in the future to complement SDL’s highly successful Buffettology product already in the market.”

The UK Buffettology fund is first-quartile over one, three and five years and has reported a 42.08% return over three years to 31 August compared with the IA UK All Companies sector return of 19.85%, according to FE data.
