Tilney has committed to further expand its Edinburgh team despite the coronavirus uncertainty as Barry Davidson becomes the twelfth addition to the Scottish office since summer.

Davidson (pictured) joins from Thorntons Investments, where he was head of financial planning. At Tilney, he will be a financial planner.

He worked at Thorntons Investments since 2012, having also held roles at Prudential Financial Planning and Standard Life Client Management during his 25-year career.

Tilney Edinburgh managing partner Ronnie Binnie said: “This is a hugely exciting time for our Edinburgh team as we continue a period of rapid growth. Barry marks the 12th person to join our team across all departments since the summer and we are still looking to further expand throughout the year.”

Binnie described Davidson as “hugely experienced and highly-regarded”.

In September 2019, Tilney announced it was merging with Smith & Williamson to create a £45bn wealth management business. But the Financial Conduct Authority stalled the deal in January.
