Steenman will join the firm’s alternative strategies team at the beginning of 2013 and work alongside François-Joseph Furry, the manager of the Carmignac Euro-Patrimoine Fund.

Maxime Carmignac, the manager of the Carmignac Market Neutral Fund, is currently on maternity leave. When she returns to the company, she will assume managerial responsibilities in the wider group and Steenman will remain in charge of the portfolio.

Steenman joins Carmignac from Zadig Asset Management, where he has worked for more than five years. Prior to this, he was a global buy-side analyst at French family investment office LVMH-Groupe Arnault and worked as a financial analyst in Morgan Stanley’s investment banking division.

The €99.8m Carmignac Market Neutral Fund is ranked second quartile of one year to the end of October but third quartile over three and five years and since launch in December 2006.
